Practical Sales Training™ > How to connect with your buyer > The Community Effect
What is it?
The Community Effect is all about creating a community of people who share the same problems/interests that relate to your offering.
Why does it work?
It works because it not only positions you as a person of authority in your space, it demonstrates that you are willing to help and not just sell. Creating a community is about connecting and helping others and not directly selling to them, but of course, over time the members of your group are likely to consider buying from you should the need arise thanks to propinquity and reciprocity.
How can you use it?
Depending on your offering, could you create a Facebook group or Linkedin group and start conversations with those who share the same problems/interests that relate to your offering?
Example
Peloton has mastered this. Beyond selling exercise bikes, they’ve created an online community of riders who share their fitness journeys, join group classes, and celebrate milestones together. This community makes users feel part of something bigger, increasing loyalty and reducing churn.
