Practical Sales Training™ > Wordplay > Anaphora
What is it?
Anaphora occurs when the start of a series of sentences begins in the same way.
Why does it work?
It works because of repetition. It’s a tool to make your point and to be remembered.
How can you use it?
When speaking to an audience or creating messages for social media/advertisements, Anaphora can be used to start and end a communication by hammering home the point you want to make.
Hypothetical Example:
A motivational speaker might say:
“We will rise when we work together.
We will rise when we refuse to quit.
We will rise when we believe in ourselves.”
The repetition of “We will rise” at the start of each sentence builds rhythm, emphasis, and memorability – making the message far more powerful and inspiring.
