Pitch Slap

Practical Sales Training™  > How To Lose The Sale > Pitch Slap

What is it?

We’ve all had it. Someone connects with us as they are expanding their network and BAM they hit you with an instant pitch.

Why does it work?

It works to push clients away because it demonstrates that you don’t really care about the person – you only care about making the sale and making money. Your buyers need to feel cared for and important for them to trust you and buy from you.

How can you use it?

If you want to annoy the people you connect with on social media and get them to disconnect and unsubscribe, then be sure to connect with people under false pretences and then IMMEDIATELY pitch them when they connect.

Hypothetical Example:

You accept a LinkedIn connection request from someone who says:

“Hi, I love connecting with like-minded professionals!”

Within 30 seconds of accepting, you receive:

“Thanks for connecting, mate! I help businesses like yours generate £50K a month with my proven system. Are you free for a quick call tomorrow so I can show you how?”

The problem? There was no relationship, no understanding of your needs, and no trust-building – just a straight-up pitch. This kind of behaviour often leads to you ignoring, blocking, or disconnecting from that person.
