What is it?

P.S is an abbreviation that stands for postscript. It comes from the Latin word postscriptum. When translated, this word means “written after.” In our world, it’s used as a short statement or question to conclude or summarise a communication.

Why does it work?

It works because as we scan emails and text in an F pattern, we notice things that stand out. “P.S” catches our attention and can be used for things like a call to action or as a form of TLDR.

How can you use it?

There are 2 ways to use it.

  • As a summary – to reinforce the message you are trying to convey.
  • As a call to action – to inspire action and communicate scarcity or urgency.

Example

There are endless possibilities, but these simple examples from this site increased clickthrough for the emails they were sending.
