Practical Sales Training™ > How to connect with your buyer > Domain Name Handle
What is a Domain Name Handle?
A Domain Name Handle is when you use your website domain as your social media username.
Instead of having a mix of different handles across different platforms, you use your domain name as your social handle. For example, if your website is clearsalesmessage.com, your handle becomes @clearsalesmessage.com on Instagram, LinkedIn, X, TikTok and more.
This creates consistency and makes you much easier to find and remember.
How does it work?
It works by making your domain the central part of your digital identity.
Your audience doesn’t have to remember different usernames or try to guess how to find you. They already know your domain name, and your handle matches it.
This means:
- Your website is yourdomain.com
- Your email is [email protected]
- Your social handles are @yourdomain.com
The same name across every channel. No confusion. No hesitation. Just clarity.
How can you use it?
To put the Domain Name Handle strategy to work, follow these steps.
1. Choose a domain you can also use as a handle
Before buying a domain, check that the matching handle is available on the platforms you plan to use. Tools like Namecheckr can help.
2. Claim the handle everywhere
Even if you’re not using every platform yet, claim the handle so it’s ready when you are.
3. Use it in your branding
Update your social bios, headers and profile pictures to include your handle. Make it visible in your content, presentations and email signature.
4. Say it out loud
When someone asks where to find you, say:
“Just search for @yourdomain or visit the website.”
It’s simple, memorable and clear.
Why this matters
Having different usernames and identities across platforms creates friction. People forget how to find you, they spell things wrong or give up altogether.
Using your domain as your handle:
- Builds trust and consistency
- Makes you easy to find and follow
- Increases the chances of people referring you
This small shift creates a big difference in how you show up online.
Example:
This lady is using her domain name as her Instagram handle which caught my eye in my Instagram notifications:
