What is it?

Hand Gestures in marketing are physical symbols or signs made with your hands that become part of a brand’s message, identity or campaign. They’re often used to reinforce a name, price point, or phrase in a visual way that’s easy to remember. Famous examples include Domino’s “High Four” to promote their £4 lunch deal, or Phones 4 U’s iconic gesture – where the hand forms a “4” and then points at you, representing the brand name.

Why does it work?

It works because hand gestures are instantly recognisable, easy to repeat, and create a kind of physical connection with the message. They turn an idea into something visual and memorable. If someone copies the gesture, it becomes a part of how they engage with the brand – and that creates mental stickiness. It’s also playful, simple, and cuts through the noise without needing long explanations.

How can you use it?

You can use hand gestures to represent your brand name, a number (like a price or offer), or even a product feature. Think about whether your message could be shown physically – not just told. Is there a way to signal “two for one,” “you,” “done,” or a key number with your hands? Use it in photos, videos, and social content – and if it catches on, it becomes a mini signature your audience can share or mimic.
