What is it?

Using influencers with large followings on social media can be an effective way to reach your ideal buyer in a meaningful way.

Why does it work?

It works because the influencer is trusted by their audience, which means not only are you being exposed to those people, but that the influencer is essentially ‘vouching” for you

How can you use it?

If you want to use an influencer to reach a wider audience, there are two ways to do it.

  1. Go direct and message the person to strike a deal.
  2. (For larger followings) Access the person through an agency.

Hypothetical Example:

A small vegan snack brand partners with a popular vegan fitness influencer who has 200,000 Instagram followers. The influencer posts a video of herself trying the snacks, sharing why she loves the ingredients and how they fit into her lifestyle.

Within 24 hours, the brand’s website sees a 40% spike in traffic and sells out of its “starter packs” because her audience trusts her recommendations.

Similarly, a SaaS company that helps freelancers manage invoices collaborates with a well-known freelancing coach on LinkedIn. The coach creates a post that says:

“I’ve tried dozens of invoicing tools, but this one is the simplest I’ve ever used.”

This single endorsement brings in hundreds of trial signups because the coach’s audience believes in her expertise and authenticity.
