The Live Chat Effect

What is it?

The Live Chat Effect is all about offering a live chat or call back feature that allows your clients to get in touch with you when they need you most.

Why does it work?

It works because it can remove the delays and answer questions / minimise risks for buyers at the most crucial moment – when they are browsing your website. Some people prefer to have a chat (online or phone) rather than seeking information from your site and this kind of service works very well for those people.

How can you use it?

If appropriate, consider adding a live chat function to your website so that visitors and potential buyers can contact you when they are on your website and get a quick answer to their question and a quick response.

Example:

A private healthcare clinic adds a “Chat with us now” feature to its website.

A visitor browsing treatment options types:

“Do you accept BUPA insurance?”

Within 30 seconds, a support agent replies:

“Yes, we’re BUPA registered – want me to check appointment availability for you?”

Why it works:
The visitor gets an instant answer, their concern is resolved, and they feel supported. That quick interaction often makes the difference between booking and bouncing. Without live chat, they may have clicked away to look elsewhere.
