What is it?

This is all about getting your buyers to take a side when it comes to their preferences – but each side is likely to be represented by something in your offering.

Why does it work?

It works because people like to identify with others who are like themselves and, depending on what it is, may be proud to share their preferences and allegiances.

How can you use it?

To make this work, you need to highlight 2 things in your offering and then ask your buyers which “team” they are on.

It could be things like:

  • colours
  • flavours
  • styles
  • size
  • speed

Then you get your buyers to share this preference on social media or by completing a poll.

Example

In this example, buyers are encouraged to take sides in terms of their snack preference:

Promotional red vertical sign betty crocker are you team brownie or team cookies with brownie and cookie imagery in a grocery aisle
